Twenty-five Surf Lifesavers are being recognised for outstanding service to keeping Australia’s coastlines safe with King’s Birthday Honours. The Honours and Awards system gives Australians the chance to acknowledge those who work tirelessly to improve local communities and to make Australia a better place.
Surf Life Saving Australia President, John Baker ESM, knows the value of the recognition after being awarded his Emergency Services Medal (ESM) in 2017.
“Our surf lifesavers are committed to keeping our coastlines safe for others,” said Baker EMS. “The level of dedication they show and the hours they put in make them incredibly worthy of this recognition.
“These twenty-five surf lifesavers who are being recognised today represent the entire Surf Life Saving movement. They make us proud and inspire us to continue towards our goal of zero preventative deaths. On behalf of Surf Life Saving Australia, I say congratulations and thank you for your outstanding service.”
