IRB

The Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) underpins the ability of patrols to respond quickly and safely to emergency situations. IRB racing is a sport that allows participants to demonstrate their expertise in a competitive setting while developing their skills and technique.

For most events, the team is made up of a driver, a crewperson and a patient. The goal is to rescue the patient and return them to shore in the quickest time.

In Western Australia, the IRB Racing Series and Championships normally take place in the winter months from April to June. Teams that achieve success at the State Championships may be selected to represent the Western Suns Competition Team at the IRB Racing Interstate Championships.
